Fun with Photoshop, circa 2001

This is a shot I did for Chevron a long time ago, some control room that was too long and shallow to back up and take a full shot of all the consoles in one shot, so I divided the task into two shots and seamed them together. (click for larger size)

This is a shot I did that became a brochure for a restaurant/bar way back then in  Pascagoula, MS that I don't think is there anymore sadly. (click for larger size)

Random stuff from the last couple of years...

A couple of extracurricular things I did for my previous job. They liked them I think, but a job in phone tech support wasn't for me.
Concepts for internal newsletter playing off the company's existing logo.

Logo for a an internal 'team' in the company.

This was to promote the launch of the Directv NFL Sunday Ticket program inside the company team

Looking through an old hard drive I found this, one of so many I did over half a decade ago for a now long gone client. They were a great client, but like so many never really recovered from Hurricane Katrina. Still have a box of the now defunct Zip Disks and old CDs that probably have tons of weekly ads we did for Sun-Herald and Mississippi Press in my Pascagoula, MS days. Must remember to see where that box is.

Fun with Doctor Who

"The Curse of the Black Spot"
These are some banners and graphics I made from my friend Combom's Doctor Who blog site over the past weeks. It was fun to make these and big thanks to Combom for letting me play on his playground.
This all started with just wanting to add a little more flair and smooth edges to the original banner that Combom had and so started the opportunity to make some more graphics, including a fanciful watery "We Want You To Watch" banner.

"The Doctor's Wife"
"The Doctor's Wife" had few promo shots that weren't shot on set and very few actually flattering shots of Suranne to use as Idris, so I outlined this one from a magazine cover scan.

Variations and the one Combom chose for the "We Want You To Watch" image.

These two silly variants were to amuse myself when I went looking to see via Google Image Search if there were other images of Suranne I could use. Before I knew she'd be the physical embodiment of the TARDIS's mind, I thought what if she was actually a previous wife of the Doctor and what did he see in her? Suranne has a bit of a pin-up past so fun with the Liquefy Tool in Photoshop to animate her.

"The Rebel Flesh"
Well that expression on Matt's face was priceless.

The variations on the "We Want You To Watch" image.

This one was meant to be just silly riffing on the album cover of the old 80's rock band Scorpions "Blackout".

The final image used.

"The Almost People"
Again, hard to find anything other than a screen grab of the Ganger Doctor, so he wasn't unfortunately as sharp and crisp an image.

This was quite a tall order as there wasn't much in the way of dramatic promo photos other than the a cover scan which required heavy retouching with the Clone Stamp tool in Photoshop to get rid of the original magazine type.

"A Good Man Goes To War"
This was kinda funny in that this is the one Combom liked, which I meant to be a work in progress! The other two was what I was heading toward, but the customer is always right...

Big thanks to Combom and PCJonathan for additional scanning and screen-grabs from trailers and such. And Tenth Planet and Blink for tolerating an old fart on the team.

Surprise cameo in Series Six of Doctor Who!

I had to pass this official pic from the BBC through some special filters, but bear with it and you'll see who the Impossible Astronaut really is!
